What this page is for
This is the front door to CityLights. You enter the email address and password of your account. If two-step verification is on for your account, you are asked for a code from your phone next.
Who can use it
Anyone who has been added to an organisation, whatever their role: staff, managers, finance, owners and administrators. You can only sign in if your administrator has given you access and has not suspended it.
How to sign in
- Type the email address your administrator used when they added or invited you.
- Type your password. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Tick Keep me signed in on this device only on a device that only you use. On a shared computer, leave it unticked.
- Select Sign in.
- If two-step verification is on, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (see Two-step verification at sign-in).
- If your administrator gave you a temporary password, you are asked to choose your own password before you continue (see Choosing your own password).
How to sign out
Open the menu with your name at the top right of any screen and select Sign out. Always sign out on shared or public computers.
Fields and columns
| Field | What to enter | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | The address of your account | Not case-sensitive. Spaces at the start or end are ignored. |
| Password | Your password | Case-sensitive. |
| Keep me signed in on this device | Tick to stay signed in after closing the browser | Use only on your own device. |
Statuses and automation
- Too many attempts: after 5 wrong attempts in one minute for the same email address from the same place, sign-in pauses for a minute. This slows down anyone trying to guess passwords.
- Activity log: every sign-in, sign-out and failed attempt is recorded with the time, IP address and browser, so administrators can spot misuse.
- Suspended access: if your administrator suspends you, you are signed out and can't sign in to that organisation until they give you access again.
- Demo sites only: on a demonstration site a list of demo accounts appears under the form. It never appears on a real installation.
Settings that change this page
- Your own two-step verification setting (Password and sign-in) decides whether you are asked for a code.
- The product name and logo come from your organisation's branding.
FAQs
I don't know which email address to use. Use the one your administrator invited you with. Ask them if you are not sure.
Can I use the same account for two companies? Yes. If two organisations both add your email address, you sign in once and work in the organisation you belong to.
Is my password visible to my administrator? No. Passwords are stored in a form that can't be read back, by anyone.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| "These credentials do not match our records." | Check the email address for typos and check Caps Lock. If it still fails, use Forgot your password?. |
| "Too many login attempts" | Wait one minute, then try again carefully. |
| "Your account has no active access" | Your access was suspended or removed. Contact your administrator. |
| I lost the phone with my authenticator app | Use one of your recovery codes on the code screen, or ask your administrator to set a temporary password and then turn two-step verification on again. |
