What this page is for
Close a month: see the money received, the expenses, the bank, everyone's cash at the end of the month, and the payments that would settle everyone to zero against the company account.
Who can use it
See the final monthly report (by default Admin and Finance).
How to close a month with it
- Choose the month (last month by default) and the currency, and select Show.
- Check Settlement suggestions. Each line says who should pay how much to whom.
- When the money changes hands, record each payment as a transfer under Transfers (or a bank deposit under Banking). Run the report again: those people now show zero.
- Export it as PDF to keep with the month's papers.
Fields and columns
| Section | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Summary | Money received minus expenses is the operating result; plus cash taken out of the bank minus cash paid in is the final monthly result. |
| Money received by property / by holder | Verified payments that came in during the month. |
| Expenses by category | Approved expenses dated in the month. |
| Bank withdrawals and deposits | Per person. |
| Cash in hand at the end of the month | As on Cash in hand, including what each person held before the month. |
| Settlement suggestions | A positive balance is owed to the company; a negative one is owed by the company. |
Statuses and automation
- Settlement uses each person's real cash at the end of the month, so money carried over from earlier months is settled too.
- Money nobody holds is not settled: assign it to a holder first.
Settings that change this page
The company account (chosen on Cash in hand). Without it, the suggestions only list what each person holds.
FAQs
Who is the company account? The person who stands for the company's own money, chosen on Cash in hand.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| No settlement suggestions say who to pay | Choose the company account on Cash in hand. |
| A line says nobody is recorded as holding money | Open Unassigned on Cash in hand and give each payment a holder. |
